We noticed that Momma Rabbit was resting in the same place for several days in a row. She would be there for a while, then was gone, then back. We got curious as to why she always chose the same cabin–there are three in a row with porches and views of the area. So we went investigating. Sure enough that smart bunny had a reason for being there. We discovered that a part of the door sweep (a soft rubber channel attached to the bottom of exterior doors) was missing right where she was sitting. So there was a gentle current of warm air wafting over her as she sat there. No dumb bunny she! This is such a great time of year see all the animals. We look forward to welcoming you for a visit soon!
Trees are turning their bright gold. Elk are beginning their mating ritual with the bugling penetrating the evening air. The forecast huge snowstorm passed us by and we have blue sky, warm days and that crisp feel to the air that indicates Fall has arrived. Our
guests are enjoying our mountain environment even with the National Park being closed which is frustrating to all of us. Our Town continues the cleanup after the flood. You will be surprised how much has returned to normal. There is still much to be done in the US 34 and 36 canyons but the drive up the Peak to Peak highway is spectacular! Do come and join us
We know most of you have heard about the huge storm in our Estes valley. We have some damage in our office/library from ground water. We’ve had about 11 inches of rain in the last 6 days. We are all o.k. The picture is of the northwest corner of our bridge. We had four mailboxes on a post where the orange cone it. So those of you who live along rivers running east from Colorado, keep your eyes open for our mailboxes. We will survive this and be ready to welcome you back on your next visit.
