Yes, summer really is coming! In the middle of this winter that is hard for most of us to grasp. Just look at the picture of the couple enjoying the peace and quiet of the riverside in Summer. This could be you! Close your eyes, take a deep breath and I will bet you can hear the water softly bubbling as it flows by and feel the soft summer breeze gentling waving the aspen leaves. It is time to make plans to join us for a visit to the mountains. We look forward to welcoming you back or if this is your first visit to us we are delighted to have you come share our mountains. Please call us and we will help with reservations whenever you want to come.
Winter is here! The season of snow, cold crisp days of sunshine, and yes some days of wind. That is part of living in or visiting the mountains. Whatever the weather on a given day, there is a sense of refreshment, vigor, and freshness. Our daily duties of housekeeping, snow removal, filing the wood boxes are tempered by watching the kids frolic in the snow, their parents enjoying a walk in the winter wonderland of fresh snow, and we all enjoy stopping to watch the wildlife pass through the property and the birds (wild turkeys especially) around our bird feeders. Then a hot drink in front of a crackling fire enhances the day. Won’t you come join us? We would love to welcome you.
Christmas morning in our mountains! Thanks to Dave Rusk for this picture that captures the beauty of the Rocky Mountains, up close, in Winter. The staff at Castle Mountain Lodge wishes you a wonderful Christmas and a blessed and peaceful New Year. We hope your New Year’s plans include a visit to our mountain valley. We look forward to welcoming you.
Winter turns our mountain valley into a wonderland! Our friend and local photographer Dave Rusk captured a portion of Trail Ridge Road (the upper portion is closed in the winter of course). At this time of year it is such fun to drive through Rocky and see the animals and the beauty of the mountains in winter. Often, you can also see many of the animals on our local golf courses or wandering the streets. Our village is aglow with the sights and sounds of Christmas. Do come and join us for a few days, sit by a crackling fire, do some Christmas shopping, and enjoy winter in the mountains!
We noticed that Momma Rabbit was resting in the same place for several days in a row. She would be there for a while, then was gone, then back. We got curious as to why she always chose the same cabin–there are three in a row with porches and views of the area. So we went investigating. Sure enough that smart bunny had a reason for being there. We discovered that a part of the door sweep (a soft rubber channel attached to the bottom of exterior doors) was missing right where she was sitting. So there was a gentle current of warm air wafting over her as she sat there. No dumb bunny she! This is such a great time of year see all the animals. We look forward to welcoming you for a visit soon!
